A second day without racing at the iQFOiL International Games Youth & Junior, currently underway at Circolo Surf Torbole on Lake Garda Trentino.
After a morning marked by unstable weather and almost no wind, the lake showed some signs of life only in the mid-afternoon, with a light southerly breeze offering a brief opportunity to attempt the scheduled slalom races. The Race Committee tried to make the most of this window and started an initial heat.
However, conditions proved too light to allow fair racing: only a few sailors managed to get foiling to the first mark within the time limit, and the heat was therefore abandoned. Shortly afterwards, with no realistic chance of further racing, the Race Committee officially called it a day.
This scenario had already been forecast on the eve of the event, with weather models indicating very challenging conditions and inconsistent wind throughout the day. The outlook for tomorrow remains uncertain, but on Lake Garda Trentino the rule is always “never say never”: the Circolo Surf Torbole organization, together with the International iQFOiL Youth & Junior Class and the FIV Race Committee, are ready to take advantage of any available opportunity.
From Thursday onwards, conditions are expected to improve, with the return of the typical afternoon thermal breeze, allowing the regatta schedule to resume as planned.
